About

Who is GPIII?

George Leonard Pope III is a Harlem-born actor, poet, and interdisciplinary storyteller currently completing his BFA in Acting at Howard University. His work lives at the intersection of classical theatre, hip-hop culture, and poetic expression—blending tradition with contemporary voice to create performances that are both grounded and electric.

George trained internationally at the British American Drama Academy at Oxford University, where he performed as Prospero in Shakespeare’s The Tempest. His artistic approach is rooted in rigorous classical training while remaining deeply influenced by the rhythm, fashion, and cultural legacy of Harlem. Whether performing Shakespeare, developing new theatrical work, or commanding a crowd through spoken word and rap, he brings a distinctive energy that merges discipline with raw authenticity.

Beyond acting, George is passionate about storytelling across disciplines from performance and poetry to producing and casting. His work centers on creating moments that reconnect audiences to the wonder of live theatre, reminding people that the most powerful experiences are created by humans, for humans.

As he continues developing his career, George seeks to collaborate with artists and institutions that value bold storytelling, cultural dialogue, and the transformative power of performance.
